Albert Skinner Mansion, 256 Arsenal St.*, Watertown N.Y.

The Albert Skinner Mansion, designed by local architect Albert M. Skinner who also designed many of the areas homes including the “Old Stone House” in Cape Vincent.

Perhaps Skinner’s most notable contribution as architect was in designing the Children’s Home on State Street which began construction in 1927 after outgrowing their original Franklin Street location.  Today, the cottage-like campus has recently been renovated and still operates as CHJC (Children’s Home of Jefferson County.)

*Note: the street numbering for Arsenal Street has changed numerous times over the years.  This house has been listed as being both 250 and 256 Arsenal Street at different times
